What are Outpatient Therapy Services?
Outpatient
therapy helps people focus on improving their emotional, mental,
and social functioning. Services can be provided on a one-to-one
basis or in a group setting. Intensive outpatient therapy may
include case management and outreach contacts or it may be provided
in a crisis situation.
Who
can benefit from Outpatient Therapy Services?
Anyone who
has a mental illness, developmental disability, or serious emotional
disturbance may be eligible for Outpatient Therapy Services.
How
do Outpatient Therapy Services help an individual?
A person-centered
treatment approach is used to help identify an individual's
strengths, dreams, goals, and desires. In this confidential
environment, the individual is encouraged to share feelings
and experiences with his or her mental health professional.
A group setting offers more opportunities for peer interaction
with those who have similar issues. Individuals are encouraged
in maximize their independence, to increase their daily living
skills, and to improve their overall quality of life.
