What
are Home-Based Services?
Home-Based Services
help children and families who have many needs, and who require
access to a comprehensive array of mental health services. The family
unit is the focus of intensive, in-home treatment, which can include
individual and family therapy, case management, parenting education,
child and family skill building, psychiatric and nursing services
and crisis intervention. Intensity of services varies based on the
needs of the individual or family.
Who
can benefit from Home-Based Services?
A family with
a child between the ages of 3-17 who is experiencing emotional difficulties
and is at risk of out-of-home placement or hospitalization may be
eligible for Home-Based Services. The program is based on the belief
that children belong in families and are best treated within their
family environment.
How
do Home-Based Services help an individual?
A Home-Based
Clinical Specialist helps the child and family increase their interpersonal
functioning and their functioning within the community as well as
their overall quality of life. A family-centered treatment approach
is used to help identify an individual's strengths, dreams, goals
and desires. The Home-Based Services program is committed to helping
families access community resources and to advocate for responsiveness
from the community systems which impact the family's ability to
function.
