What is Self Advocacy?

Self Advocacy is a consumer-initiative to let others know that people with mental illness, or developmental disabilities are empowered to work on their own behalf and participate fully in our community.

What is AAM?

AAM is the managed care component that works as a division of Bay-Arenac Behavioral Health and other community mental health care providers.

What is Managed Care?

1988, Persons served by community based behavioral health services including Bay Arenac Behavioral Health, will encounter a term called "Managed Care".

Managed Care is a financial control for Medicaid that was adopted in 1988 and allows Community Based Mental Health to better control their costs, pay subcontractors, and deliver more flexible services. For additional information, you should contact your local Mental Health provider.

What is Person Centered Planning?

Person and Family Centered Planning addresses the specific needs, goals, and desires of the person being served into a "plan" that is then followed to deliver behavioral services.

What is OBRA?

OBRA is a home-like environment that is staffed 24 hours per day and yet is less restrictive than nursing home facilities. Individuals once inappropriately destined for nursing home care are now reintegrated into the community, increasing access to familiar experiences, people and places.
